Regional Health Department: Vitebsk City Hospital No. 1 will return to normal operation

Vitebsk City Clinical Hospital No. 1, which treated coronavirus patients, will return to its specialized mode of operation from November 8, said Mikhail Vishnevetsky, head of the main department for healthcare of the regional executive committee.

On Saturday, November 6, disinfection will be carried out in the medical institution. "From Monday, the hospital will resume its normal operation. We will also consider the option of switching (from the COVID profile. - Editorial note) of the next institution. Most likely, it will be the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Specialized Center, as it concentrates certain types of surgical, therapeutic, gastroenterological, and proctological care. Currently, it has been relocated and is available at the regional hospital, but we plan to return the specialized center to its profile," said Mikhail Vishnevetsky.

The head of the regional healthcare department noted that fewer patients are seeking medical help, and the coronavirus situation is better than it was in the fall of last year. "At the same time, the concentration of severely ill patients in the institutions has increased. In the red zone of Vitebsk Emergency Hospital, which, like the regional hospital, has one of the largest intensive care units in the region, deals with severely ill patients - all of them, including those on ventilators, were unvaccinated," the specialist said.

Mikhail Vishnevetsky urged people not to relax, as the incidence has not disappeared, so it is necessary to continue to observe the usual preventive measures and get vaccinated. "In the Vitebsk region, 29% have been vaccinated, and recently more people have been seeking vaccination. We recently received a new batch of Chinese vaccine," he added.
