Regional Health Department: Vitebsk cardiac surgeons performed aortic root prosthetics surgery for the first time in the region
On the basis of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital, surgeons from the cardiac surgery department, together with an employee of the Department of Hospital Surgery of VGMU, Associate Professor Kirill Vykhristenko, performed two aortic root replacement surgeries (David procedure) for the first time in the Vitebsk region.
The patients were discharged in satisfactory condition to a rehabilitation center with further outpatient cardiologist follow-up.
This surgery is performed for aortic root aneurysm with preservation of the aortic valve (the patient's own aortic valve remains), which improves the patient's quality of life in the postoperative period and does not require anticoagulant therapy, unlike valve replacement.
