The implementation of Decree No. 70 "On the Development of the Vitebsk Region's Agro-Industrial Complex" and current issues of the agricultural sector were discussed
According to Nikolai Sherstnev, the fodder harvesting campaign in the region is currently nearing completion. "Rapeseed has already been harvested, and the winter rapeseed harvest is beginning. Literally three weeks, and the grain harvest will begin. It is good this year. At the same time, the grain areas are larger compared to last year, which increases the workload on machine operators: taking into account rapeseed and winter rapeseed, we have 500 hectares per combine – this is double the norm. And the weather usually does not allow much time. Therefore, the grain should be harvested within three weeks at most," the governor emphasized. "You know, if the harvest extends into September, then all work is delayed due to dew and rains. This, in turn, delays soil preparation for winter crops, their sowing, and the failure of the entire technological chain. Therefore, under no circumstances should agro-technical and technological aspects be violated."
Nikolai Sherstnev also focused on the need to start harvesting grain for livestock needs a week earlier this year. In this regard, he instructed to approach the inventory and preparation for operation of all available roller conditioners with particular responsibility. "Barley, wheat – there is no need to wait until they dry on the stalk. They must be harvested into sleeves, into trenches. This will pay off," the chairman of the regional executive committee is convinced.
