The activity of 18,000 information resources has been restricted. Ministry of Information on the continuation of the hybrid war
The Ministry of Information, jointly with law enforcement agencies, has already restricted the activities of 18,000 information resources, of which almost 7,000 have been recognized as extremist. These data were presented by the Minister of Information, Marat Markov, at the V Forum of the Belarusian Media Community "Media Today: Focus on Truth" in Gomel.
Speaking about the challenges of the time and the role of the media in ensuring information security, Marat Markov stated that the information war in Belarus continues and is even intensifying. "Indirectly, this can be judged by the increase in the number of extremist resources and the sophistication of methods for information destabilization of our country. The Ministry of Information, jointly with law enforcement agencies, has already restricted the activities of 18,000 information resources, of which almost 7,000 have been recognized as extremist. Last year alone, over 3,150 were blocked. And in the first five months of 2025, we have already reached this figure," he emphasized.
A similar situation exists with book products. "We have already recognized 110 books as harmful to our children. They are a direct source of propaganda for violence, cruelty, pornography, drug use, and so on," Marat Markov outlined the problematic area.
The head of the department assured that the Ministry of Information will continue to work with the heads of marketplaces and distributors of publications, guiding them to independently adhere to book hygiene. "They must also review all their contractors who are flooding our country with book trash, contrary to moral principles and conscience. Unfortunately, there are quite a few people who only see the ruble, including among distributors of book products," he pointed out.
The V Forum of the Belarusian Media Community "Media Today: Focus on Truth" is taking place in Gomel on June 5-6. Around a thousand participants met on its sidelines during these days, including representatives of state media (republican, regional, departmental), the country's ideological vertical, press services of state bodies and organizations, the blogosphere, as well as experts in the field of communications.

The forum is the largest platform for discussing current issues of the country's media space development, sharing experiences, and developing strategies in the field of information policy. Its organizers are the Ministry of Information together with the Gomel Regional Executive Committee with the support of leading republican mass media.
