Prospects for cooperation with the Chinese province of Shandong were discussed at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. The delegation from the Celestial Empire was led by the Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Commerce, Mr. Zhang Qingwei.
As noted by the Chairman of the Committee for Economy of the Regional Executive Committee, Dmitry Novatsky, Shandong Province is one of the key partners of the Vitebsk region.
– We have quite serious groundwork with this province, and a roadmap is being implemented. Chinese friends are visiting the Vitebsk region for the first time as representatives of government authorities and businesses who are looking for additional cooperation opportunities with our enterprises, – emphasized Dmitry Novatsky. – Today, we actively use Chinese technologies in food production and the processing industry. We supply timber processing products and peat to the PRC. Based on the results of the first quarter, exports to the People's Republic of China increased by almost one and a half times. We see the potential for cooperation in joint activities of manufacturing enterprises, scientific organizations, cultural, educational, sports, and tourism institutions, and in creating the most favorable conditions for attracting investors to various fields of activity.
Shandong Province is famous for its agricultural sector, and Belarus also has extensive experience in the production of agricultural machinery and the application of modern technologies. This is a promising field for the development of business contacts.
In the industrial sector, it is possible to organize joint ventures in various industries: machine building, light industry, production of building materials, etc.
– The subjects of the Vitebsk region are ready to consider the possibility of participating in the infrastructure projects of the Chinese initiative "One Belt – One Road," – Dmitry Novatsky added. – Shandong Province is called Qi and Lu, which means the core of culture and the center of the most ancient Chinese civilization. The Vitebsk region is the center of Belarusian statehood, the festival capital. We have all the opportunities for fruitful joint work for the prosperity of our regions.
– The meeting in the "Vitebsk" free economic zone is planned to include an introduction to Vitebsk enterprises, as well as a presentation of Chinese companies and B2B negotiations.
