Plans for the renovation of district centers for "Dazhynki" should be submitted for public discussion - Nikolai Sherstnev

Plans for the renovation of district centers for the regional festival of rural workers "Dazhynki" should be submitted for public discussion. This opinion was expressed at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its chairman, Nikolai Sherstnev.

The participants of the meeting discussed the preparation of facilities in the current capital of the festival - the city of Dubrovno and the entire Dubrovno district for the festival-fair "Dazhynki-2017". In total, it is planned to renovate about 300 facilities in the district. The central square and the main city streets will be transformed, residential buildings, educational, healthcare, transport institutions, sports facilities, etc. will be repaired and modernized. Preparations for the autumn harvest festival are actively underway. The head of the region emphasized that the tradition of holding regional "Dazhynki" in the region will be continued.

"Bread in the Vitebsk region is not easily obtained. Last agricultural year was difficult, and the current sowing campaign has also become tough. The labor of breadwinners must be respected and celebrated," the governor is convinced.

He also stressed that the district centers that become the capital of the festival are significantly updated and transformed. "No district budget can finance the colossal amount of work that we perform on the eve of 'Dazhynki'. We concentrate funds, and together we put a specific district center in order to create conditions for a comfortable life for people," added the head of the region. At the same time, Nikolai Sherstnev is convinced that the approaches and methods of this work need to be improved.

"It is necessary to start preparing design and estimate documentation not a year in advance, but earlier, in order to calmly consider how to improve the settlement, and possibly submit the project for public discussion. This will allow us to hear the proposals of residents and enable them to contribute to the development of their city," said the governor. He emphasized that if the tradition of holding regional "Dazhynki" in its current format is preserved, then in 10-15 years all district centers will be modernized.

"It will be pleasant to live and work in such transformed settlements," Nikolai Sherstnev is convinced. He

reminded that district centers that will host "Dazhynki" in 2018 and 2019 have already been determined in the region. These will be Verkhnedvinsk and Braslav, respectively.
