Winners of the regional competition among journalists and media outlets were honored at the regional executive committee as part of events dedicated to professional holidays – Press Day, Radio, Television and Communications Workers' Day.
Prior to the award ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexey Guida said that he has experience working with the media and has missed this area of activity a little. He promised to show great interest in the media from the perspective of discussing problematic issues and improving work. Congratulating those present on their professional holidays, Alexey Guida called the press the fourth estate, which must strictly meet the requirements.
Winners were named in nine nominations:
"Best Print Media of the Vitebsk Region":
Group I – "Editorial Office of Vitebsk City Newspapers 'Vitbichi' and 'Vecherniy Vitebsk'".
Group II – "Rodnyya Vytoki" (Dokshitsy).
"Best Television and Radio Broadcasting Media of the Vitebsk Region": "Vektor TV" (Novopolotsk).
"Best Online Publication, Internet Resource of Media of the Vitebsk Region": District Newspapers "Zarya" (Beshenkovichi) and "Golas Rasonshchyny".
"Best Creative Works by a Young Journalist in the Media": Olga Karpova – editor of the online resource of the district newspaper "Golas Sennomshchyny".
"Best Creative Project in Print Media": Kristina Rubel – correspondent of the district newspaper "Postavsky Krai" for the project "Man and His Work", Vyacheslav Kolodynsky – deputy editor-in-chief of the district newspaper "Braslavskaya Zvyazda" for the project "Contrasts of the Borderland".
«Best creative project in television and radio broadcasting media»: correspondent office (Vitebsk) of the "First Informational" TV channel for a series of TV reports within the "Special Report" project.
«Best creative project in an information agency, online publication, media internet resource»: regional newspaper "Vitebskiye Vesti" for the implementation of the online project "Pages of Victory," dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory.
«Best photo materials in the media»: Denis Vasilets – photo correspondent of the regional newspaper "Vitebskiye Vesti," Elena Emelyanova – editor of the online resource of the city newspaper "Novopolotsk Segodnya."
«Best TV operator work in the media»: film crew of the TV program "New Year. Time of Discoveries" of the "Vitebsk" TV and radio company.
Their awards were also presented by member of the Council of the Republic, head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergey Meleshkin, chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism Elena Sabirova.
Then, in an open dialogue format, a meeting was held with media managers. Content quality, HR policy, and financial issues were discussed. Alexey Guida, in particular, urged not to give opponents of the authorities an opportunity to influence the formation of public opinion, but to predict possible events, seize the agenda, and be ahead of the curve.
A ceremony honoring the winners of the competition for the best creative work on covering parliamentary activities was held in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly. In the nomination "Best Author's Material in Regional Print Media and Online Publications," the third-degree diploma was awarded to Alexander Barilo, deputy editor-in-chief of "Vitebskiye Vesti" for the structural unit – the newspaper "Klich Radzimy" for the Sharkovshchyna district.
