A gift from the past

The hero of our story is a thrifty person. At least, that was the case more than five years ago, when he, returning home in his personal car from vacation, stopped near a forest, where he found the very "gift" for the possession of which he appeared in court as an accused in May 2016.

Returning from the forest along a path, near a bush, he discovered a small box with rifle cartridges, which are ammunition for 5.6 mm caliber rifled firearms. As he explained in court, being a thrifty person, he did not throw them away, nor did he take them to the police, although he knew that it was forbidden to store ammunition for firearms without a permit. He took them home, hid them in a nightstand where none of his relatives would find them, and forgot about them. Only after many years, in October 2015, accidentally finding them in his nightstand, he decided to take the cartridges to his workplace so that no one at home would find them. However, a few months later, law enforcement officers found them, which led to the initiation of a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 295 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

By the court's verdict of May 19, 2016, the hero of the story was found guilty of illegally acquiring, storing, transporting, and carrying ammunition, for which, as punishment, 10% of his income will be withheld from his earnings for 1 year.
