Remembering the past – creating the future! The people's memory cannot be erased

Senior Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office for Supervision of the Enforcement of Legislation on Minors and Youth, Sergey Kiryanov, took part in the dialogue platform "Remember the Past – Create the Future! The Memory of the People Cannot Be Erased," with the pupils of the "Parus" health camp, operating on the basis of the educational institution "Polotsk State Gymnasium No. 1 named after F. Skorina."

In his speech, the prosecutor noted that "the events of August 2020 forced us to turn to the history of our state and showed that we have begun to neglect the benefits – peace, freedom, the right to self-determination – achieved by the life and blood of our relatives and loved ones. It was precisely anti-social and anti-patriotic events that were a factor contributing to the decision in April 2021 to initiate a criminal case on the fact of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War."

During the forum, Sergey Kiryanov shared up-to-date information with the camp pupils on the progress of the criminal case investigation into genocide, with the children actively asking questions. They, in turn, told the prosecutor about the thematic exhibition dedicated to the genocide of the Belarusian people created at the educational institution, shared events they knew of that took place in the Polotsk district, and showed their drawings for the exhibition "Genocide Through the Eyes of Children."

Within the framework of a preventive event of this format, its participants received reasoned information, actively participated in discussions, and acquired new knowledge.

The children thanked the prosecutor for the interesting event.
