Consequences of drug and psychotropic substance use

Dear young people! You know that we live in an age of rapid technological progress in all areas of human activity. The technical improvement of the Belarusian Railway is also not standing still; its development has made it possible to significantly increase the weight and speed of trains. On some sections of the railway, train speeds reach up to 140 km/h. With large volumes of transportation, high intensity, and increased train speeds, the railway is a zone of increased danger.

However, very often some of you, forgetting about the danger, allow yourselves to play near railway tracks and stations, throw snowballs, stones, and other objects at passing passenger trains, place foreign objects on the rails in front of a moving train, ride bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, sleds, and snowboards.

By organizing active games on the territory of railway transport facilities, you endanger not only your own lives but also the lives and health of people around you, the locomotive crew, and passengers traveling on the train.

You are confident that upon hearing the signal given by the driver, you will have time to move to a safe place. Alas, many of you pay with their lives for such overconfidence, and those who survive suffer severe injuries that make them disabled.

A TOTAL OF 11 "DO NOTs" CAN PREVENT INJURIES ON RAILWAY TRANSPORT:

DO NOT walk on railway tracks!

DO NOT cross railway tracks in front of an approaching train (it takes 700 to 1000 meters of braking distance to stop a train traveling at 100-120 km/h!)

DO NOT jump from platforms!

DO NOT crawl under platforms and rolling stock!

DO NOT play near railway tracks!

DO NOT ride on train cabins and roofs!

DO NOT place foreign objects on the tracks (this can lead to disasters)!

DO NOT throw stones at a moving train (this leads to

injury or death of a passenger, who may also be your relative, classmate, friend, or loved one!).

DO NOT cross railway tracks at unauthorized locations.

DO NOT use headphones near the railway track or talk on your mobile phone (you may not hear the electric train driver's signal!).

DO NOT be in the protection zones of the contact network, do not throw foreign objects onto the contact network wires or supports, or bring them close to them, and do not climb onto the supports (the voltage in the contact wires is about 30,000 volts, approaching them closer than meters is dangerous!).

The railway is not dangerous for those who follow the rules, are attentive and cautious, and disciplined in the danger zone. And the rules of railway transport are simple, you just need to follow them.

We remind you that being on railway tracks, crossing them at unauthorized locations, mischief, hooliganism, and thoughtless actions are always associated with risk and danger to life, to avoid which you must strictly adhere to the established rules of safe behavior on the railway.

It should be remembered that for walking on or being on railway tracks at an unauthorized location, administrative liability is provided in accordance with Part 5 of Article 18.3 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses, which entails a fine. Administrative liability for committing this offense occurs from the age of 14.

In addition, for material damage caused by minors under 14 years of age, their parents, adoptive parents, or guardians are responsible. If such damage is caused by a minor aged 14 to 18 years, then they bear responsibility independently, and in the absence of income or other property, the damage must be compensated by their parents, adoptive parents, or guardians.
