A Holiday of Safe Childhood. How was the International Children's Day celebrated in Vitebsk?

02.06.2026

A crawl race, a "Super Mom" costume contest, a rich creative program, interactive educational platforms, and an exhibition of special equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. A correspondent from "VV" visited the "Safe and Cool Summer" festival, organized by Vitebsk rescuers.

The event was held as part of the republican preventive campaign of the Ministry of Emergency Situations "Safe Holidays," the main goal of which is to remind adults and children of the value of life and the need to observe elementary safety rules.

– As a father, I can say that children are our hope and pride. Every moment spent with children fills us, adults, with happiness. Today, the creative costume contest "Super Mom" was held for the first time, which we organized together with the Belarusian Women's Union. It is symbolic that this event took place in the Year of Belarusian Women. It is no secret that the fair sex plays the main role in forming a family and raising children. The "Super Mom" contest was created to emphasize the importance of a woman's role in the world, – noted Sergey Meshkin, member of the Council of the Republic, head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The event was kicked off by the traditional cute "Crawling Race" contest. 20 agile toddlers not only competed in speed but also delighted the audience with creative costumes in the style of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The fastest was 12-month-old Mark Maksimov.

– I learned about the race from a friend. My baby is very active, so I decided to participate with him in the traditional contest from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. As it turned out, not in vain. With a result of 18 seconds, Mark became the fastest baby. I am proud of my son and know that this victory will be a starting point for him towards a bright future, – emphasized Alena Maksimova, the mother of the young winner.

Among the 13 creative mothers of the northern region, Alexandra Tishutina became the most original.– When I was signing up my baby for the "Crawling Race," I learned about "Super Mom" from the organizers. I thought it would be interesting to participate. For our family, this will be a story we'll tell our children. My sister helped me create the costume. We managed to do it in one night. The idea came spontaneously. I saw photos online where moms were holding a large number of items. I decided to create a super mom costume with six hands, holding everything necessary for little ones. I'm pleased that my creativity was so highly appreciated. Thank you to the organizers for the useful gifts and the festive atmosphere, – said Alexandra Tishutina.

Creative groups from Vitebsk delighted the holiday guests with vibrant vocal performances.

There was also an educational segment.

Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations at interactive educational sites talked about safety rules that can prevent fires, tragedies on water, and other accidents involving children.
