Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economics Committee: Enterprises of the Vitebsk region have exported goods and services worth $1.3 billion since the beginning of the year

Business entities of the Vitebsk region have exported goods and services worth a total of $1.3 billion since the beginning of the year. This was announced to journalists before a meeting to review the socio-economic development results of the region since the beginning of 2024 by Veronika Zabolueva, Chairperson of the Economy Committee of the Regional Executive Committee, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"We have exported $1.3 billion," Veronika Zabolueva announced the results of foreign economic activity. "Of course, as of today, about 70% is accounted for by the Russian Federation, but we are very actively working with far-arc countries. Exports to these countries have increased 1.4 times. 21 enterprises of the Vitebsk region export products to China; currently, these are sawn timber, dairy products, poultry meat, and a number of other goods."

As the Chairperson of the Economy Committee explained in her report, exports to Russia have increased by 17%.

The region will continue to enter new markets. In particular, there are untapped regions in neighboring Russia: "Parts of the Leningrad region, Moscow, Bashkortostan, and a number of large Russian cities," Veronika Zabolueva concluded. "As of today, our plans are very ambitious: we need to develop markets in Africa, where we currently trade with two countries. Therefore, the prospects here are very significant for us."
