A representative of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office took part in considering the issue of the state of legality and public order in the Braslav district

A representative of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office took part in the 26th regular session of the Braslav District Council of Deputies, which considered the state of legality and public order in the Braslav district.

Statistical data on crimes against life and health committed in the Braslav district indicate a steady trend of their annual increase in the region during 2019-2020.

Despite the shortcomings identified by the regional prosecutor's office in the formation and implementation of the comprehensive plan for the prevention of offenses in the Braslav district for 2020, a formal plan, without considering the state of the crime situation, was approved for 2021.

The foregoing fully applies to the planning of measures aimed at preventing offenses that contribute to emergencies and loss of life from them, since the current plan does not provide for specific measures to stabilize the situation, apart from those arising from the functional duties of employees of the Braslav Regional Department for Emergency Situations.

For reference: according to the results of 2020, the number of fires in the district increased by 37% - 27 (37), the number of citizens who died in fires increased 6 times, 6 people drowned (4). The trend of increasing fires continued in the first period of 2021.

In her speech, the prosecutor drew the attention of the deputies and the attending representatives of law enforcement agencies and local authorities to the identified negative trends and proposed a number of measures to stabilize the crime situation.

She also highlighted the key aspects and directions of preventive activities for the current year, related to the implementation of measures aimed at preventing high-tech crime, and also drew attention to the need to take measures to smooth out centers of social tension.
