A representative of the Vitebsk Transport Prosecutor's Office took part in a meeting of the standing commission for the prevention of non-production-related accidents involving people at the Vitebsk branch of the Belarusian Railway.
Supervision over the enforcement of legislation on traffic safety and railway transport operation, and the prevention of citizen deaths are among the priority areas of activity for the Vitebsk Transport Prosecutor's Office.
A representative of the supervisory authority took part in a meeting of the standing commission for the prevention of non-production-related accidents involving people.
On the agenda were the state of non-production-related injuries among citizens, as well as the work done by the railway branch in 2019.
It was noted that over the past year, 11 (6) non-production-related accidents were registered at the regional railway branch, in which 11 people were injured, including 8 (5) fatally. Moreover, ten citizens were intoxicated.
A common cause of accidents is the disregard for safety measures and being in a high-risk area while intoxicated.
In order to prevent the death and injury of citizens, the subjects of prevention, heads of departments and stations have been instructed to intensify the work of volunteer law enforcement squads, carry out measures to prevent unauthorized access to railway transport facilities, and conduct explanatory and preventive work in educational institutions.
