Representatives of the Vitebsk region will take part in the XXXIII Minsk International Book Fair
The Minsk International Book Fair will last for six days, from March 17 to 22, during which visitors can expect unique meetings with writers and poets, presentations, contests, seminars, and even gifts.
A press conference dedicated to this landmark event and the exhibition's rich program was held on the eve of its opening.
As noted by Alesya Ignatova, Head of the Publishing and Printing Industry Department of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, this year the main themes of the book forum are the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Year of Belarusian Women. Traditionally, special attention will be paid to the presentation of new books from the country's leading publishers. There will be many guests from far and near abroad.
"Mastatskaya Lіtaratura" publishing house will present the unique edition "Fairy Tales of the Peoples of the CIS," and "Belarus" publishing house will present "Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Maksim Bahdanovich in the Languages of the Peoples of the Commonwealth of Independent States."
– We have released a gift edition of Yakub Kolas's book "New Land" designed by People's Artist of Belarus Vasily Sharangovich, – said Alexander Badak, director of "Mastatskaya Lіtaratura" publishing house. – Beautiful illustrations, a full translation of the poem into Russian was done by poet Andrey Tyavlovsky. Also, for the 130th anniversary of the People's Writer of Belarus Kondrat Krapiva, a presentation of his book "Astrazhany Vozhyk" will be held with the participation of the writer's granddaughter and artist Oleg Vinyarsky.
Alexey Cherota, Deputy Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus, Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper "Literature and Art," noted that writers will perform at various venues of the exhibition, and on the first day of the forum, there will be a presentation of the collection "Poetry of Feat" and the international symposium of writers "Writer and Time."
The presentation of the Vitebsk Regional Branch of the Public Association "Union of Writers of Belarus" is scheduled for March 18 at 13:30.
Lyudmila Kozhukhovskaya, Vice-Rector for International and Scientific-Methodological Work of the Educational Institution "Republican Institute for Higher School", Candidate of Cultural Studies, noted that a special emphasis during the book exhibition will be placed on youth, and an "Educational Quarter" will operate for children, featuring many interactive events and a no-lose lottery.
