Prevention of recidivism

Questions The prevention of crimes committed by persons with a criminal record is constantly in the focus of law enforcement agencies and local authorities and administration.

Preventive measures and actions taken in this area allow for a positive trend in reducing the level of recidivism. In the current year, the total number of crimes committed by persons who have previously had problems with the law has decreased by 11.5%. A decrease in their number is also noted in the criminal investigation department, including serious and particularly serious crimes.

At the same time, as the analysis of the causes of recidivism shows, the issues of employment of convicted persons and their commission of crimes while intoxicated are of particular relevance, which is given special attention within the framework of the work carried out with persons in this category.

The prosecutor's offices of the Vitebsk region, in their supervisory activities and in the exercise of coordination functions, are taking measures aimed at improving work in this area, including taking into account the execution of amnesty acts.
