Prevention of recidivism

Vasily Pashkovsky, Head of the Department of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office for Supervision of Compliance with Legislation by Bodies of the Criminal Executive System and Enforcement, took part in a training and methodological meeting with employees of the criminal executive inspectorates of territorial internal affairs bodies.

Within the framework of the event, issues of organizing work with persons with a criminal record, preventing recidivism, and complying with legislation in the execution of punishments and other criminal liability measures were discussed.

In his speech, Vasily Pashkovsky focused on the organization and conduct of educational and preventive work with citizens registered with the criminal executive inspectorate, and provided examples from the practice of prosecutorial supervision.

"Ensuring the order and conditions for serving sentences and other criminal liability measures established by law, and timely response to violations with correction of the behavior of convicts are daily tasks of the employees of the criminal executive inspectorate. At the same time, providing assistance in domestic and employment matters is an integral element of the preventive component in working with persons with a criminal record," the prosecutor noted.

The participants of the event exchanged views on problematic aspects of the discussed topics and outlined ways for further improvement of activities in this area.
