Nikolai Sherstnev's Direct Line: Most questions from citizens can be resolved at the local level
Around 40 calls were received by the direct telephone line with the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, from residents of the region.
The issues people raised concerned the operation of the housing and communal services sector, including major repairs of houses and maintaining their sanitary condition, equipping healthcare facilities in the region with MRI machines, public transport operation in Vitebsk and some intercity routes, and various everyday situations.
"The largest number of calls came from large settlements and cities: Vitebsk, Orsha, Vitebsk and Orsha districts. There were practically no calls from rural districts today. All the questions received were mainly minor and could have been resolved at the local level. Every single one," Nikolai Sherstnev summarized the results of the direct line.
In this regard, the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee urged the heads of districts to intensify the activities of local services, the work of chairmen of rural and settlement councils in all areas, including the fight against hogweed and maintaining order in settlements. "This link is not working sufficiently; it needs to be activated," emphasized the head of the region.
The governor also focused on the condition of lands transferred to rural councils and the need to establish more active systematic work on demolishing dilapidated and vacant buildings. According to data as of July 5, 295 appeals were received by the direct telephone line of the Regional Executive Committee, which corresponds to last year's level. Most often, people apply regarding housing stock, housing and communal services (44% of appeals) and road management (10%). The largest number of calls came from residents of the regional center, Orsha, Senno and Vitebsk districts. At the same time, the most active, per 10,000 population, are residents of Senno, Vitebsk and Beshenkovichi districts, as well as Vitebsk.
