"Direct telephone line": Nikolay Sherstnev was approached with problems in the sphere of housing and communal services, salary payments, and urban improvement
One of the first callers was a resident of Orsha. The woman reported that there were plans to reduce staff at the local branch of Belarusian Railways. Nikolai Sherstnev instructed the Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Igor Isachenko, to investigate this matter and prevent layoffs.
Two appeals were received from residents of the building at 29 Chkalov Street in Vitebsk. The women complained about the poor condition of the courtyard paths and the children's playground, whose equipment is severely worn out. Local authorities are tasked with rectifying these shortcomings.
A resident of Vitebsk from 6th Zagorodnaya Street approached with her problem. This is a private sector area lacking asphalt pavement, and temporary grading and gravel surfacing do not resolve the issues. The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee directed the city mayor to thoroughly address the improvement of the private sector. "There must be a consistent and systematic effort in this direction. Almost the entire private sector is without roads. The problems are growing annually; resolve them," Nikolai Sherstnev addressed the head of the city, Vadim Zaryankin.
During the three-hour direct line, three calls were received from employees of agricultural organizations in the Vitebsk region. People complained about salary payment arrears. The governor assured that the region's specialists would be paid on March 30-31.
A pensioner from the Vitebsk district complained about the condition of a military burial site in the village of Shapyry, where approximately 17,000 people are interred. He particularly drew attention to the water that often accumulates behind the memorial, obstructing passage. According to the head of the district, Gennady Sabynich, a major reconstruction of the memorial is planned for 2021. Nikolai Sherstnev added that he intends to visit the site in the near future to assess the situation.
More than 20 people contacted the governor during the phone line. Residents of Vitebsk and Orsha called most often. They raised issues of repairing and insulating the walls of multi-story buildings, installing fiber optics and steam heating in homes, business development, banking services, land claims, and disputes between relatives.
During the previous phone line of the chairman of the regional executive committee, which took place on November 23 last year, 33 instructions were given, 27 of which were fulfilled. Two heads of housing and communal services departments in Vitebsk were disciplined. Some issues remain under control.
