The work done yielded positive results

The prosecutor's offices of the region have been taking measures this year aimed at strengthening legality and law and order, ensuring public safety and discipline. Special attention was paid to the protection of social rights and interests of citizens, including minors, supervision over the enforcement of legislation on public order, compliance with legislation during inquiry and preliminary investigation, crime and other offenses prevention, fight against corruption and economic crime, and court proceedings.

The coordination meeting on combating crime and corruption in the Vitebsk region discussed issues of improving the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies, other interested bodies and organizations in preventing, detecting and suppressing high-tech crimes, improving the work of crime prevention entities in preventing deaths from fires, as well as from other external factors.

Problematic issues of supervisory activities were considered at operational meetings with the regional prosecutor and his deputies.

Prosecutors regularly informed the representative and executive authorities about the state of legality in the regions.

At the initiative of prosecutors, issues of strengthening law and order have been repeatedly considered at meetings of the regional executive committee and local government bodies.

The organizational and practical measures taken have helped to maintain a positive trend towards a decrease in most registered crimes, including in the areas of criminal investigation.

For the first 9 months of this year, there were fewer registered cases of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, extortion, fraud, robbery, theft, and vehicle theft. In addition, for the first time in recent years, a positive trend of decreasing cybercrime offenses has been observed.

The number of crimes committed by persons with prior convictions, by groups of individuals, by minors and with their complicity, as well as under the influence of alcohol, has decreased.

Work in this direction will be continued.
