Preventive focus of supervisory activities

Following the trend of strengthening the preventive component of supervisory activities, the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has intensified explanatory work among state bodies and state organizations on topical issues of law enforcement practice.

In particular, in November-December of the current year, participation was taken in educational and methodological seminars (meetings) organized by the Vitebsk Regional Union of Consumer Cooperatives and the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk Region on issues of legality in the consideration of citizens' and legal entities' appeals.

The attention of heads of investigative units of the Vitebsk region, employees of personnel and legal services of consumer cooperatives was drawn to the main violations of legislation on citizens' and legal entities' appeals identified by the prosecutor's office: lack of proper analysis of the topics of incoming appeals; incomplete, formal consideration of appeals on the merits; violation of deadlines for considering appeals; failure to inform applicants about decisions made based on the results of their appeals, etc.

Specific examples from practice illustrated cases of poor-quality resolution of appeals, giving formal and unreasoned responses, and explained the responsibility provided for by law for violating the procedure for considering appeals.

Holding such events allows to increase the level of legal training of responsible officials, because according to an ancient proverb, a wise person learns from the mistakes of others.
