The prevention of corruption manifestations is one of the most important areas of activity of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office
As prosecutorial supervision practice shows, corruption risks in educational institutions are quite high. Thus, in the current year alone, more than 40 corruption crimes have been recorded in the education sector in the Vitebsk region. For systematic receipt of money (from 35 to 500 dollars) from foreign students for passing exams, tests, and elimination of academic debt, the head of the Department of General Dentistry of the educational institution "Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University" was convicted under Part 2 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (receiving a bribe). A teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the educational institution "Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov" was found guilty of repeated receipt of bribes (10 episodes) from university students for successfully passing exams.
In connection with the detection of repeated cases of bribery in educational institutions of the region, the Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has carried out a number of preventive measures aimed at preventing corruption among both teachers and students. Preventive talks were held with first-year students of the educational institution "Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University", the educational institution "Vitebsk Technological University", and other educational institutions.
The requirements of anti-corruption legislation directly related to students and teachers were brought to the attention of those present. Issues of responsibility for violations of anti-corruption legislation were освещены in detail.
