Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office: problematic issues on the prevention of murders and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm were discussed at a coordination meeting

Under the chairmanship of the Vitebsk Region Prosecutor Igor Ukrainets, a meeting of the coordination council for combating crime and corruption in the Vitebsk region was held via video conference with the regions. The topic was improving the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies and other prevention entities in preventing murders and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm.

Among those invited were the First Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexey Shakhovich, Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Chernyavsky, Deputy Head of the KGB Directorate for the Vitebsk Region Dmitry Sedlyarov, Deputy Head of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk Region Igor Metelitsa, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vera Astapenko, and others.

The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the issues of preventing crimes against the life and health of citizens committed on a domestic violence basis.

The Vitebsk Region Prosecutor Igor Ukrainets oriented the internal affairs bodies, local executive and administrative bodies towards improving interdepartmental interaction, intensifying work on early detection of domestic violence and taking measures to protect victims, and improving the quality of individual preventive work with socially maladjusted individuals.

Based on the results of the meeting, specific instructions were given, and additional measures were developed to improve the activities of prevention entities and prevent murders and intentional grievous bodily harm.
