The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has sent a criminal case to court concerning an attempted murder motivated by greed and coupled with robbery.

The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has studied and forwarded to the regional court a criminal case charging a native of the Dokshitsy district with attempted intentional unlawful deprivation of life of another person (murder), for mercenary motives, combined with robbery.

It has been established that a 25-year-old native of the Dokshitsy district, on October 04, 2019, between 04:15 and 05:31, while in the passenger compartment of an "OPEL ASTRA" car belonging to acquaintance X., parked on the shoulder of the "R-45 Polotsk-Glybokoye-Lithuanian Republic border" road, near the intersection with Sadovaya Street in the city of Glybokoye, Vitebsk region, intending to deprive X. of his life, with the aim of seizing his property, inflicted close injuries on him, which fall under the category of minor bodily harm due to short-term health disorder.

He was unable to bring his intention to deprive of life and seize the victim's property to completion due to circumstances beyond his control, as the victim offered active resistance.

After reviewing the materials of the criminal case, the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office concluded that the charges were well-founded and the circumstances of the crime were objectively investigated. They agreed with the qualification of the accused's actions under Part 2 of Article 207, Part 1 of Article 14, and Point 12 of Part 2 of Article 139 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

The prosecutor left the measure of restraint in the form of detention unchanged.

The criminal case was under the proceedings of the Polotsk Inter-district Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
