The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office conducted raids at venues of cultural and mass events to monitor fire safety.

Traditionally, the celebration of Christmas and New Year holidays is associated with cultural and mass events in educational and cultural institutions, as well as in nightclubs, discos, restaurants, recreation centers, tourist bases, hunting lodges, and agriturismo farms.

The results of inspections indicate that not all regions of the oblast have established clear interaction between prevention entities in order to promptly identify the causes and conditions that contribute to emergencies and the death of people from them.

In this regard, on the eve of the New Year holidays, at the initiative of the Vitebsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office, departments for emergency situations and territorial internal affairs, together with supervisory agencies of the Vitebsk regions, have been instructed to ensure that raid groups visit venues for cultural and mass events to monitor fire safety.

During the raid activities, special attention was paid to the condition of evacuation exits (presence of combustible finishes); the availability (and operability) of primary fire extinguishing means; the availability and use of pyrotechnic devices; the operability of fire automation and fire alarm systems; the knowledge of the service personnel of fire safety rules and rules of conduct in case of emergencies.

Based on the results of the fire prevention work carried out, more than 270 fire safety measures were proposed for implementation, including 222 for facilities involving children. In addition, more than 1200 drills of action plans in case of fire were carried out, including 985 at facilities involving children.

Also, 89 monitoring activities were conducted to suppress violations of fire safety requirements during the sale of pyrotechnic devices, as a result of which 11 violations were identified, and the sale and use of pyrotechnic devices were suspended at 3 facilities.
