The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office is conducting preventive raids on places of mass recreation for citizens near water bodies
During the summer period, the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office is conducting inspections of the effectiveness of the work of prevention entities in the districts of the Vitebsk region in ensuring the safety of citizens on water.
For reference: over the seven months of the current year, 65 (50) people drowned in the waters of the Vitebsk region, including 7 (2) children.
The Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region, together with representatives of the Orsha District Prosecutor's Office, OSVOD, and ROChS, monitored the condition of most popular water bodies in the Orsha District among the population.
The inspection covered issues of equipping existing rescue posts and stations, their compliance with legislative requirements, and other issues.
Prosecutors and specialists, upon visiting the sites, noted violations related to the absence of restrictive and warning signs and markings in both designated swimming areas and areas deemed prohibited.
The work of local authorities in including such places in the relevant list of prohibited swimming areas, or conversely, in their certification for further proper equipping with rescue stations (posts), as well as with all necessary facilities, has been criticized.
Joint inspection of places of mass recreation for citizens, including minors, near water bodies in the region will continue.
Based on the monitoring results, the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office will inform the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
