The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office is focusing on preventing road traffic accidents involving and caused by motorcyclists in the region

Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Vitebsk region for supervision of the enforcement of legislation on crime prevention and other offenses Suzanskiy V.V. took part in a "round table" organized by the leadership of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee on the prevention of road traffic accidents involving and due to the fault of motorcyclists.

Representatives of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Department of Internal Affairs, the State Committee of Forensic Examinations, driving schools and the bus depot of Vitebsk, the motorcycle club "Road Dogs", the motorcycle movement "Night Wolves", as well as motorcyclists of the region took part in the discussion of this issue.

The opening speech was delivered by the Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Senko V.S., who highlighted the relevance of the problem for the region, inviting the participants of the open dialogue to find joint solutions to the current negative situation on the roads.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Vitebsk region Suzanskiy V.V. drew the attention of those present to the strict and unwavering observance of the Traffic Rules, as well as the reasons for their violation, in particular, the low level of mutual respect and tolerance among road users.

At the meeting, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate conducted an anonymous survey among those present to identify aggressive behavior on the road, and also offered to test their knowledge

Traffic Regulations. The road accident situation in the Vitebsk region was brought to attention. This year, 18 road traffic accidents involving motor transport occurred, resulting in 7 deaths and 13 injuries. Approximately 2000 traffic violations were detected among motor transport drivers. Following this, participants of the "round table" were shown a film on the relevant topic.

In turn, motor transport drivers focused on the issue of training drivers of category "A", in particular, insufficient motorcycle riding practice, the condition of the examination area, and other aspects.

 

In addition, representatives of the motorcycle movement came up with the initiative to provide the State Traffic Inspectorate with recordings from video recorders regarding traffic violations in order to bring violators to justice. Bikers also pledged to conduct explanatory work of a preventive nature among motorcycle enthusiasts on compliance with traffic regulations. Law enforcement agencies supported this initiative.

 

The problems voiced during the "round table", as well as proposals for their resolution, and other initiatives to ensure road safety will be used by the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office in coordinating the activities of preventive entities during preventive measures (campaigns) to prevent deaths and injuries on the region's roads.
