Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office: Video about improper animal keeping turned out to be a 'fake'

The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office conducted an inspection regarding the dissemination of a video clip on the Internet depicting improper animal keeping conditions at OJSC "Zvezdny-AGRO" in the Tolochin District.

The video clip, filmed and posted on the social network "VKontakte" by a farm employee K., contained information about non-compliance with the rules and conditions for keeping cattle at one of the enterprise's dairy farms.

The video commentary also stated that the animals were not receiving proper treatment, care for newborn calves was not established, and deceased calves were not disposed of in a timely manner.

It was established that in his report, K. provided an inaccurate assessment of the fulfillment of technological and veterinary-sanitary requirements at the dairy farm.

The animal captured on video was in a post-calving state and had received veterinary care, and the stillborn calf had been disposed of in a timely manner.

During the period of mass calving, other calves were present in the production premises of the dairy farm in the designated area, which did not contradict veterinary and technological standards.

According to K., who had previously been repeatedly brought to administrative and criminal liability, the reason for posting the unreliable information was a conflict with the farm management regarding salary accrual and working conditions.

In connection with the dissemination of unreliable information, the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office issued K. an official warning about the inadmissibility of unlawful actions and notified the administration of the social network "VKontakte" about the need to remove the video clip.
