Countering extremist activities: Prosecutors of the Vitebsk region participated in a seminar with Russian colleagues
The delegation from the Vitebsk region was headed by Deputy Regional Prosecutor V.I. Guk, and included Deputy Head of the Department for Supervision of Inquiry and Operational-Investigative Activities A.N. Zaikin, and Senior Assistant Regional Prosecutor for Supervision of Compliance with State Security Legislation A.A. Lysakov.
The seminar participants highlighted the specifics of organizing supervision in their countries for compliance with anti-extremist legislation, shared their experience in countering foreign interference in internal affairs, and discussed problematic issues of operational-investigative activities in cases where a person committing an extremist crime has gone into hiding in the territory of the Russian Federation.
The exchange of prosecutorial experience allowed for both enriching the arsenal of prosecutorial supervision in countering extremist activities and outlining further paths for unifying legislation in this area.
The organizers of the seminar decided to continue fruitful cooperation in order to increase the effectiveness of supervision and counter new challenges and threats of an extremist nature.
