A seminar was held on the topic “Compliance with criminal procedure legislation during pre-investigation checks and inquiry”
On the initiative of the Department for Supervision of Legislation Enforcement in the Troops of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, an educational seminar was organized and held in Vitebsk on May 25, 2019, at the military commissariat of the city of Vitebsk, Vitebsk and Liozno districts. The seminar, titled "Compliance with Criminal Procedure Legislation during Pre-investigation Checks and Inquiries," was conducted by Senior Prosecutor of the Department, Junior Justice Counselor V.A. Poluyanchik, for investigators of the Borisov Military Commandant's Office. In addition to the investigators, the military commandant of the aforementioned office and his deputies participated in the seminar.
During his presentation, V.A. Poluyanchik informed the attendees about the relevant requirements of the current legislation of the Republic of Belarus, provided examples of the most significant violations committed by investigators during relevant checks within the framework of Articles 173, 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Belarus, and also gave recommendations on issues related to the timelines for conducting checks, their extension, suspension, resumption, appointment of expert examinations, and other areas of activity.
At the end of the presentation, attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions, which were answered comprehensively and professionally.
The leadership of the Borisov Military Commandant's Office petitioned for similar events on the study of criminal procedure legislation to be held at least once every six months, which has been noted by the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
