Employees of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office took part in an international scientific and practical conference at Polotsk State University

Prosecutors of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office took part in the international scientific and practical conference held at the Faculty of Law of PSU "Polotsk State University".

The theme of the conference was "Criminology in the context of transformational processes: national and international aspects".

The aim of the event was to discuss criminological problems by comparing crime trends identified in criminological research conducted in Eastern and Western European countries.

The conference was attended by employees of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, units of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk Region, leading criminologists and scientists from higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus, Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Russia, and Austria.

During the scientific and practical forum, issues of the effectiveness and limits of criminal law measures for crime prevention, the possibilities of applying alternative measures of criminal liability, and experience and problems in Eastern and Western European countries were discussed.

Prosecutors actively participated in discussions on the use of alcohol and drugs, their connection with criminal behavior, issues of domestic violence prevention, juvenile delinquency, and the influence of social networks on the formation of deviant behavior.

The knowledge and information gained during the conference will help improve the preventive work carried out by law enforcement agencies in the areas of domestic violence, recidivism, and juvenile delinquency in the region.
