Republican Botkin Readings are held at Vitebsk Medical University
The traditional event is attended by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Veniamin, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Archbishop of Vitebsk and Orsha Dimitry, Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University Alexey Chukanov, and others.
The rite of consecration of the memorial sign, installed on the site of the church in honor of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist (17th century), was performed by Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Veniamin, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.
His Eminence emphasized that this is a time for very careful and thorough gathering of stones, as evidenced by the event. All that has contributed to the formation of our statehood and the spirituality of the people – ancient churches, monasteries, icons, holy relics – was created to form the spiritual core of every citizen, and their restoration is a great God-pleasing deed.
– Every church has a guardian angel, and even if it is destroyed, the guardian angel continues to carry out its high service, assigned to it by God until the end of the world, – His Eminence noted the existence of the patron saint of the educational institution, St. John the Baptist.
– We have, perhaps, a respectful attitude towards our spiritual values, towards our traditions in our blood, – emphasized the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin. – Churches in the Vitebsk region, destroyed by wars or during political cataclysms, are being restored, although it seemed impossible even 5-10 years ago. These connecting threads, which hold us together and connect us with our ancestors, with history, speak of who we are.
Within the framework of the republican Botkin Readings on the topic "Ethical Problems in Medicine.
