A routine business trip to Vitebsk turned into a complete disaster for a Moscow resident.
It was a typical situation: having arrived in the city on the Dvina for work, as expected, Alexey (name changed) went to a grocery store after completing his tasks, where he bought many food items and alcoholic beverages for his journey back to Moscow. He decided to pass the time before his train in a cafe, where he consumed a considerable amount of alcohol. Upon finishing his meal, Alexey, with all his purchases and a bag of personal belongings, headed to the railway station, where he immediately settled in at the "Minutka" cafe, continuing to drink. While drinking, Alexey met a local resident, Andrey (name changed). Even before they met, Alexey had forgotten where he left his belongings and asked his new acquaintance for help in finding them. After discovering the "missing" items near a bench at the station, Alexey decided to visit the restroom, instructing his new acquaintance to carry his belongings. This tone offended Andrey, and while Alexey was in the restroom, Andrey took Alexey's belongings and left the railway station.
Alexey, who was heavily intoxicated, was detained by transport police officers and taken to a sobering-up station. It was only there that Alexey discovered that his bag with belongings and the bag with groceries were missing.
Only after the investigation of the criminal case regarding the theft of property belonging to a citizen of the Russian Federation was it possible to fully reconstruct the events preceding the discovery of the loss and to identify the perpetrator.
