What problems did the residents of the Vitebsk region turn to Alexander Rogozhnik with?
Chairman of the regional executive committee Alexander Rogozhnik held the first personal reception of citizens in Vitebsk.
A Vitebsk resident appealed to the governor for help. The woman spoke about a problem that has not been solved for a long time: the basement of one of the multi-story buildings on Vostretsov Street in the regional center is constantly flooded. Residents of the multi-story building had appealed to various authorities, but it yielded no results.
– I had a personal meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the regional executive committee, Dmitry Petrusha. A couple of days later, specialists arrived and started working, but they did not complete the job, – the woman said. – At the end of July, a drainage pump was installed to pump water out of the basement. It was there in August, but it couldn't cope, especially when it rained, the water still flooded the entire basement. Specialists could not determine exactly where this water was coming from. Some suggested it was groundwater, others proposed different versions. Literally on the eve of my visit to you, they dug two wells, installed a drainage pump, but the water still doesn't completely drain, and there's mud all around.
Head of the main department of housing and communal services of the regional executive committee Yuri Dyadelo confirmed that he is aware of the situation and had visited the site.
– For 2025, the engineering networks in the basement have been completely replaced, the sewage system has been repaired, and the drainage system around the house has been cleared, which ensures water runoff. These are the main reasons for the basement flooding. I met with the residents – we agreed that the house will remain under special control until the snow melts to ensure that the basement remains dry. Currently, water does not accumulate in the basement, but mud and dampness remain.
The governor reacted quickly and decisively, setting a deadline of the end of the week for the housing and communal services to resolve the issue.
– The cause should be eliminated, not just the actual presence of water, – noted Alexander Rogozhnik, adding that he himself would visit next week to check the implementation of his instructions.
Residents of Vitebsk, Orsha, as well as Vitebsk and Beshenkovichi districts appealed to the head of the region with various problems. Among the issues are inflated electricity tariffs in the gardening cooperative "Sokolniki", violation of building codes for neighboring household plots, and the implementation of the reconstruction project of Dzerzhinsky Street in Orsha. In addition, at the reception, employees of the Vitebsk branch of the Polotsk Dairy Plant discussed the prospects of their production with the head of the region.
