Territorial Defense Assembly: 2019 Academic Year Results, Best Awarded and Future Tasks Set

At a regular meeting with the leadership of state administration bodies and military commissariats on territorial defense, the results of the 2019 academic year were summarized, the best were awarded, and tasks for the future were set.


As noted by Oleg Matskevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, in the past year, the main efforts were directed at improving the efficiency of the management system and the training level of officials. The culmination of the events was a training exercise with conscripts from Beshenkovichi district, which included command and staff exercises (CSE). In recent years, significant work has been done in Belarus to improve territorial defense. As is known, territorial defense forces are tasked with the armed protection of the population, objects of the national economy, and communications, which increases the effectiveness of the tasks performed by military units of the Armed Forces.

Based on the results of 2019, the Vitebsk region took first place. However, there is still work to be done, including the careful selection and training of conscripts for officer positions, the improvement of command posts, and decision-making skills.

The participants of the meeting heard a report on the military-political situation around Belarus. They were assigned tasks for the near future. In particular, this year command and staff exercises will be held, as well as joint exercises with other regions of the country. (Based on the results of 2019, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, the Orsha, Polotsk, and Gorodok District Executive Committees were among the best).

After the theoretical part, competitions for the prizes of the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee in TT pistol shooting were held at the shooting range of the 103rd Guards Airborne Brigade. The winner was the Deputy Chairman of the Rossony District Executive Committee Ruslan Marchenko, who scored 63 points out of a possible 100. In second place was the First Deputy Chairman of the Lepel District Executive Committee Igor Moroz (59), and in third place was the Chairman of the Gorodok District Executive Committee Petr Korobach (49).
