A seminar on the issues of website support and promotion for public administration bodies was held at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee

A seminar on the issues of supporting and promoting websites of government bodies was held at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. Specialists from the Operational-Analytical Center under the President of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA, the Main Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, and departments of city and district executive committees took part in its work.

How to make a government body's website more accessible, understandable, high-quality, and useful for the user? What is required for its improvement? Why is it sometimes impossible to get the necessary information on a management body's website with two or three mouse clicks? The organizers of the seminar sessions, initiated by the Main Department of Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, tried to answer these and other questions.

– We are one of the first in the country to hold a seminar in this format, – noted Gennady Egorov, Head of the Main Department. – Timely informing citizens is an important state task. The mood of the people and the image of the region depend on it. Issues of the quality of presentation of socio-political information are always relevant.

Using the website, we ensure the visibility and openness of the activities of government bodies, and feedback between the authorities and the people. Websites of local government bodies actually resemble a large reference book. You can find answers to many questions of interest to citizens, learn the latest news of the country and the region, and submit an electronic appeal.

However, the monitoring conducted showed that not all regional Internet resources keep up with the times and meet the requirements of clear structure and navigation.

Examples of successful operation include the websites of the Gorodok and Liozno District Executive Committees; the Vitebsk City Executive Committee website will soon start operating in a new format.

Specialists who administer Internet resources of government bodies have a lot of work to do to ensure that their websites comply with all the requirements of current legislation and meet the demands of the people. Today

it is no longer enough to simply update current information on the website promptly; it needs to be adapted for new gadgets, create versions for the visually impaired, and be promoted on social media.
