A seminar on the implementation of legislation on minors and youth by prevention entities was held for young specialists

An educational and methodological seminar on the implementation of legislation on minors and youth by preventive entities was held for young specialists at the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The seminar featured speeches by G.A. Korenko, Deputy Prosecutor of the region, A.V. Volkov and I.N. Tarasevich, assistants to the prosecutor of the region, T.V. Olekhnovich, Deputy Chairperson of the Commission for Juvenile Affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, I.V. Mikheenko, chief specialist of the regional executive committee's healthcare department, and others.

The young specialists discussed problems related to the application of comprehensive rehabilitation for minors who systematically use narcotic drugs and alcohol, the fight against pedophilia, assistance to children who have suffered from such crimes, and the prevention of domestic violence against children. These problematic issues were highlighted in light of the latest changes and innovations in legislation.

The solutions to tasks concerning the protection of childhood and motherhood, and the exchange of experience between regional prosecutor's offices, aroused genuine interest among the assistants to the prosecutors. In particular, the Orsha District Prosecutor's Office shared its experience in initiating criminal cases based on the results of supervisory inspections regarding the employment of minors, and the Vitebsk District Prosecutor's Office shared its experience in protecting the rights of children in large families from physical violence by the father.

It is precisely in such practical sessions that the professional level of prosecutors protecting children's rights is effectively enhanced.

Irina Tarasevich, Assistant Prosecutor of the Region.
