"Slavic Caravan" Departs from Orsha for Chukursoy, Uzbekistan

30.07.2026

The ceremonial departure of the direct train "Slavic Caravan" to Chukursoy, Uzbekistan, took place in Orsha. Today, at 9:58 AM, the "Slavic Caravan" set off from the Orsha-Vostochnaya station on its journey of over 4,000 kilometers. This marked the starting point of a project for expedited cargo delivery to a friendly country.

The significant event was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Rogozhnik, and the Head of Belarusian Railways, Valery Verenich, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus, JSC "Uzbek Railways," and employees of Belarusian Railways.

– I am sincerely glad that in such a short period of time after the meeting of the leaders of our two states, we have jointly formed this freight train, thus fully fulfilling the instructions of the two presidents, — said Alexander Rogozhnik. — For the current period, cargo turnover has already increased by one and a half times, and it is gratifying to note that after the departure of the first train, the second one has already been formed. It is pleasant that the Vitebsk region and the city of Orsha have become a logistics hub for cooperation between the two countries. Today's event has become the culmination of summing up the results of cooperation between our two railways. I want to note that the presidents' instructions are being fulfilled even, perhaps, ahead of schedule. A roadmap for cooperation with the Fergana region has been prepared, and it will be signed during my upcoming visit to Uzbekistan in mid-August. This will be a continuation of the agreements of the two leaders. We have already agreed today on the implementation of large joint pilot projects, from agriculture to woodworking and the development of light industry. And the tasks set by the two leaders to increase trade turnover will undoubtedly be fulfilled, — emphasized the head of the regional administration.

The first through freight train included wagons with woodworking products, food cargo, including sugar, potato starch, and mixed feed. In the future, it is planned to expand the range of transported goods, as well as to include wagons with containers in the train. This is especially attractive for shippers of small batches of goods, as it allows them to take advantage of through service.

The "Slavic Caravan" project is being implemented in development of decisions made at the highest level to increase supplies of Belarusian mechanical engineering, woodworking, agricultural products and other goods in demand in the Uzbek market.

Belarus and Uzbekistan plan to establish regular container train services. The parties are also working on optimizing tariff conditions along the entire route. It is expected that this will reduce delivery times, increase transportation efficiency, and make logistics more competitive.
