Joint meeting of the presidium of the regional Council of Deputies and the regional executive committee: in the Vitebsk region, the focus in the fight against hogweed will be on three districts
From local budgets, Br640 thousand will be allocated to combat hogweed in the region. Land users' own funds will amount to over Br360 thousand. Financing of measures from the republican budget is expected in the amount of Br680 thousand. "This is a lot of money. We must clearly understand what we will spend it on and allocate it to the three most problematic districts," emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev. At the same time, serious attention to the implementation of measures to combat hogweed should be maintained in other districts, he added.
According to the head of the region, all work should be entrusted to one entity - the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which has demonstrated high efficiency and quality in carrying out measures, and its employees have the necessary equipment.
Nikolai Sherstnev noted that a lot of work has been done in previous years - the areas of hogweed growth have significantly decreased.
As reported by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Viktor Galanov, measures taken to treat hogweed by chemical methods over the past 2-3 years have allowed more than 800 hectares of territory to be classified as potentially cleared. This year, work will be carried out on an area of 3.9 thousand hectares. Tenders for the purchase of herbicides are currently being held in the districts, and contractors for the measures are being identified.
