Law enforcement entities in the Braslav district received a positive assessment

Last year, an increase in crimes, including murders, was noted in the Braslav district. Therefore, at the end of February, at the initiative of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a comprehensive inspection of the work of prevention entities was carried out in the district. The working group, headed by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region, Vladimir GUK, included employees of the regional prosecutor's office, the Department of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The work of the councils of public law enforcement centers, the central district hospital, the department of education, sports and tourism, the district police department, the district department for emergency situations, and other services was checked. One-time meetings of the councils of public law enforcement centers were held in Braslav and all rural councils, attended by employees of the regional prosecutor's office, the Department of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The main attention was paid to how the councils work with people leading an antisocial lifestyle. In this regard, the maximum number of such individuals – 120 people – was considered.

Thus, Vladimir Guk, together with the working group, visited a meeting of the council of public law enforcement centers in the Osovsky rural council. 13 local residents with irresponsible and immoral behavior were invited to it. Some of them have a criminal record, others lead a lifestyle that could lead them to prison, and still others have already been to a therapeutic labor rehabilitation facility and are again on the verge of it. Many of those invited had attended similar meetings before, and preventive work was carried out with them. However, this did not always help them to rise from the bottom to which they had sunk.

V. Guk examined the fate of each invited person in detail, gave advice and instructions. As a rule, all these people abuse alcohol, and they have no shame in front of their families. However, according to the deputy prosecutor, at such meetings, many begin to realize their

behavior and try to rectify the situation. Sometimes public condemnation does not yield the desired effect, in which case the only option is compulsory referral to a treatment and rehabilitation center (TRC).

Thus, among those invited to the council were various individuals. For example, a mother of 3 children, who claimed that it had happened only once and would not happen again. She was considered by the council for the first time; the children are under supervision, the house is in order, and the fire safety situation is satisfactory. The woman was believed the first time; however, if such an incident recurs, the punishment will be severe.

It is particularly alarming that among those invited are people in their early thirties. One young man, in his years, looks like he is 60 and has lost his life's bearings. He is unemployed, drinks, lives off his parents' means, and has already been to a TRC. He was obliged to undergo treatment for alcohol addiction by March 10.

During the interviews, each invited person's living conditions were inquired about, and assistance with employment and addiction treatment was offered. Some genuinely repented and promised to return to the right path, while others, it seemed, paid no heed to the words of the OPOP members. Nevertheless, the implementation of the directives will be checked, and more decisive measures will be taken if necessary.

Summing up the work of the OPOP councils, Vladimir Guk noted that, on the whole, the work with individuals leading an antisocial lifestyle is established, and the involved services are functioning well. For instance, the activities of the Opsovsky rural council in this regard were positively recognized.

At the same time, individual violations were identified in the work of other prevention entities. Based on the results of the inspection, prosecutor's response acts were drawn up, and recommendations will be sent to specific services later.
