Over 300 people were evacuated from the railway and bus stations of the regional center on October 30

On that day at 17:40, the official email of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate received a message about the mining of the Vitebsk railway station and an explosion to occur on November 1st.

The sapper-pyrotechnic group of military unit 5524 of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which promptly arrived at the scene, conducted a thorough inspection of the station buildings and adjacent territories. More than 100 transport police officers were involved in the operational measures. No explosive devices were found – the call turned out to be false. According to Vitebsk Transport Prosecutor Alexander Tsarikov, due to the threat of an explosion, train delays occurred: Polotsk-Vitebsk by 10 minutes, Ezerishche-Vitebsk by 14 minutes, Polotsk-Moscow by 2 minutes. After the checks were completed, access to the premises of the two stations and transport movement were resumed.

         Regarding this fact, the city

a criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee under Article 340 (knowingly false report of danger). A preliminary investigation is currently underway, and the identity of the "miner" is being established. The guilty party faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years, — noted Alexander Tsarikov.
