Construction Trends, Prospects. Youth Trade Union Forum Launched in Vitebsk
The Youth Forum of the Belarusian Trade Union of Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers brought together over 30 activists from specialized organizations from all over the country in Vitebsk.
The forum began with a memorial event. Participants laid flowers at the Memorial Complex in honor of the Soviet liberator soldiers, partisans and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region on Victory Square.
The business part was hosted by OJSC "Dolomit", where, after the forum's opening, a dialogue platform began its work. The speakers included Dmitry Prosviryakov, Chairman of the Belarusian Trade Union of Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers, Elena Nefedova, Chairperson of the regional trade union association, and Sergey Soglasiev, General Director of the enterprise.
Dmitry Prosviryakov noted that such forums are aimed at strengthening work with youth and are held on a regular basis.
– Aligning the focus of work with youth within the framework of the tasks facing us, the socio-economic development program, patriotic education, construction of rental housing, – Dmitry Prosviryakov outlined the range of issues. – At the dialogue platform, we define the directions of work within the framework of the Year of Belarusian Women announced in the country and how we can support working youth. We are determining the points where additional social guarantees need to be included in our current collective agreements for active youth. We will work out a series of events that we will hold in a broad format this year.
Elena Nefedova, Chairperson of the regional trade union association, emphasized that "Dolomit" is a city-forming enterprise, whose successes are a source of pride in the region. The large, cohesive team includes labor dynasties and has its own mentoring system. The enterprise preserves traditions and is preparing for its 95th anniversary.
– The enterprise, whose industrial production is being studied by young people during the forum, has good developments in interaction with youth. A system of work on labor protection and other areas that the trade union is involved in, including the preservation of workers' health, has been established. Young people at this venue exchange best practices and initiatives that can significantly impact the development of the industry in the region and the country in the future, – noted Elena Nefedova.
A presentation video about the enterprise's work was shown to the youth. General Director Sergey Soglasayev focused on specific areas of work, prospects, and spoke about the history of "Dolomit," the difficult stages in its development that were overcome here. In 2023, taking into account the foreign policy situation, the enterprise had to intensively restructure its operations, rebuild its logistics base, and reorient itself to the Russian market. Today, a comprehensive modernization is underway, initiated by the reconstruction of the third technological line.
Among the issues that interested the youth were rental housing, social guarantees, the international work of the trade union, and others.
