A three-seater amphibious seaplane crashed in the Braslav district – a passenger died

The tragedy occurred on Saturday evening near the village of Budily. There were 3 people on board the aircraft. The passenger, a 56-year-old Minsk resident, died, while the 49-year-old pilot from Borisov and the second passenger, a 29-year-old resident of Lida, were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity at the Braslav Central District Hospital. It is known that the seaplane, registered with the Republican Public Association of Aviation Enthusiasts, Aircraft Owners and Pilots, belongs to an individual entrepreneur.


A criminal case has been initiated in connection with this fact under Part 2 of Article 314 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety rules or operation of air transport). Investigators from the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Vitebsk Region, the central office of the Investigative Committee, specialists from the State Committee of Forensic Examinations, as well as a commission consisting of representatives of the Department of Aviation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus are working at the scene. An inspection of the scene is being carried out with the capabilities of a mobile forensic laboratory, witnesses and eyewitnesses to the incident are being identified, and urgent investigative actions are being taken to establish the circumstances of the seaplane crash.
