In the Year of Improvement, three socially significant facilities have appeared and been updated in Lepel district.
According to Veronika Khombak, Deputy Chairperson of the Lepel District Executive Committee, the most significant project is being implemented in Domzheritsy – the central estate of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, which has the status of a "Village of the Future," is practically ready to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the specially protected natural territory. Large-scale work has been carried out on the reconstruction and construction of facilities aimed at developing scientific, ecological, educational, and tourist activities, as well as at the social development of the settlement. A multi-apartment building has also been erected here, which will help solve the housing issue for young specialists – 26 people were assigned here this year. Domzheritsy has a good kindergarten, school, FAP (Feldsher-Accoucheur Station), and an art school. A significant part of the population is young people, it is truly a village of the future.
In the village of Borovka, on Lake Shchybot, the beach has acquired a new look. The informal recreation area, where more than 100 people gather in the summer, has been officially recognized. The coastal zone has been expanded, a rescue post of OSVOD (the Belarusian Voluntary Society for the Rescue of People on Water) has been equipped, and sun loungers, changing rooms, and garbage containers have been installed. The beach renovation was financed, in part, by a civic initiative project that won a regional competition. The district executive committee did a lot of work, subbotniks (volunteer workdays) were organized, and residents of the village also participated in the cleanup.
– Borovka is a kind of resort area for us, – emphasizes Veronika Khombak. – Nearby are the military sanatorium and "Zhemchuzhina" (Pearl). It was pleasant to hear the opinions of Russians who admired both the transformation of the beach and the social orientation of our state in general.
The former military town is famous for its military traditions. Festive events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people over the Nazi invaders in the region began with the opening of a memorial sign in Borovka to the cadets and commanders of the Lepel Infantry and Lepel Rifle-Mortar Schools.
