The city prosecutor's office celebrates an anniversary

On August 10, the Prosecutor's Office of Novopolotsk celebrates its 50th anniversary. In accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR dated 30.07.1966 "On the Formation of New Districts of the Belarusian SSR" and in accordance with the Order of the Prosecutor of the BSSR dated 10.08.1966 No. 40-k, the Prosecutor's Office of Novopolotsk was established in the Vitebsk region with a staff of 3 people: a prosecutor, a senior investigator, and a secretary-typist. And on August 17, by the order of the regional prosecutor No. 126, junior justice counselor Orlov A.A. was appointed the first city prosecutor, who began to perform his duties on the same day.

Since then, many political events have occurred, Belarus has become an independent state, and economic relations have also undergone changes. But at all times, highly professional, responsible people, who stand guard over the law, have worked and continue to work in the city prosecutor's office. And the current generation of prosecutors upholds the established traditions. With their selfless work, they ensure the implementation of the tasks set by the Head of State and the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus to strengthen legality and law and order.

Since its formation, the staff of the city prosecutor's office has grown to 13 people. In December 2011, a new administrative building at 155A Molodezhnaya Street was put into operation, and prosecutors moved into separate offices equipped according to modern requirements. The small team of the city prosecutor's office does a huge, sometimes unnoticed job of protecting the interests of the state, the rights and freedoms of citizens. Based on the results of activities for 2015, we were recognized as the best among district, city, and transport prosecutor's offices.

To be on guard over the law, to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, the interests of the state, to resist various manifestations of crime, to coordinate the activities of law enforcement agencies in the fight against this evil – these are the main directions of our work. Continuing to fulfill the set tasks, based on the results of the 1st half of 2016, prosecutors conducted 24 inspections of compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus. Based on their results, 137

based on prosecutorial supervision acts, 45 employees of enterprises and organizations were brought to various types of responsibility.

The prosecutor studied and sent 171 criminal cases for consideration by the court, supported the state prosecution in 139 cases, and gave conclusions in 190 civil cases. In order to protect the economic interests of economic entities, 27 lawsuits and applications totaling 1,689,361 rubles were filed with the economic courts. Prosecutors resolved 146 appeals from citizens and 78 from legal entities. I am confident that the main tasks of the prosecutor's office will continue to be successfully resolved in cooperation with executive, law enforcement, and judicial bodies.

Dear colleagues, veterans! I congratulate you on the holiday! I wish you good health, personal happiness, and well-being!

Anatoly Avsyuk,

Prosecutor of Novopolotsk, Senior Justice Counselor
