Strengthen legality within the region

In the current year, the region's prosecutor's offices have been taking measures aimed at strengthening legality and law and order, ensuring public safety and discipline.

Special attention was paid to the protection of citizens' social rights and interests, including minors, supervision over the enforcement of legislation on public order, prevention of youth involvement in illegal mass events and other destructive actions, compliance with legislation during inquiry and preliminary investigation, crime and other offenses prevention, fight against corruption and economic crime, and court proceedings.

The coordination meeting on combating crime and corruption in the Vitebsk region discussed issues of effective interaction between law enforcement and other state bodies in countering illicit drug trafficking, preventing their use, including among youth, ensuring social rehabilitation of drug addicts; improving the effectiveness of interaction between interested departments when arriving at incident scenes, making decisions on applications and reports of crimes, searching for wanted accused persons, and others.

Problematic issues of supervisory activities were considered at operational meetings chaired by the regional prosecutor and his deputies.

Prosecutors also regularly informed the representative and executive authorities about the state of legality in the regions.

At the initiative of prosecutors, issues of strengthening law and order were repeatedly considered at meetings of the regional executive committee and local government bodies.

The organizational and practical measures taken have helped maintain a positive trend towards a decrease in most registered crimes, including in the areas of criminal investigation, serious and particularly serious crimes.

Over the 11 months of the current year, there have been fewer registered murders, rapes with attempts, hooliganism, robberies, burglaries, and thefts. The number of crimes committed by persons having

conviction, by a group of persons, minors and with their complicity, in public places, as well as while intoxicated.
