The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus discussed current issues of the supervisory department's information services at the local level

The Information Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus organized a training and methodological seminar on the interaction between the supervisory authority and the media. Senior assistants to the prosecutors of the regions and the city of Minsk, as well as employees of the central office of the department, took part in the training seminar.

Opening the seminar, Deputy Prosecutor General Gennady Dysko once again emphasized the importance of interaction between the prosecutor's office and the media in ensuring the principle of openness in the activities of the supervisory authority. – "If we don't speak out, they will forget about us." At the same time, he drew the attention of the information services to the need to work with social networks and monitor the information posted. – "Today, a blogger is the main judge, prosecutor, and even lawyer," Gennady Dysko summarized.

Within the framework of the training event, the press secretary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus, Vitaly Novitsky, spoke, highlighting the role of social media in the activities of the press service, and shared information about the work carried out on the Internet and the Ministry of Emergency Situations' experience in this area. The presentation was accompanied by a demonstration of video clips.

In addition, in his speech, Alexander Gradyushko, Associate Professor of the Department of Mediology and Web Journalism at the Institute of Journalism of Belarusian State University, focused the participants' attention on modern forms of press service work on the Internet and social media, and provided examples.

During the presentations, senior assistants actively asked questions and discussed with the speakers. After that, they exchanged opinions and their established practices on the issues discussed at the seminar.

The participation of prosecutors in such training events will further enable regional information services to improve their professional level in the sphere of openness and, thereby, strengthen the authority of the supervisory body among the population.
