A meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies was held at the regional executive committee

The upkeep of yard areas was the subject of discussion at a meeting of the presidium of the regional Council of Deputies.

As emphasized by the head of the region's deputy corps, Dmitry Demidov, order on the land and cleanliness of settlements are among the main brands of Belarus.

– It is pleasant when residents and guests of the Vitebsk region note the well-kept, beautiful, and green appearance of our cities, towns, and villages. And this must be maintained, – said Dmitry Demidov.

The Chairman of the Regional Council also noted that this work should be carried out on a permanent, systematic basis. In addition, in addition to specialized organizations of the housing and communal services system, legal entities and residents themselves should be involved in it.

– It is necessary to involve the public and the population. Enterprises must be responsible for order not only on their own territories but also on adjacent ones. The President of Belarus also drew attention to this in his directive in March of this year, which concerned the quality of maintenance of adjacent territories. It is in line with the established system of work, – explained Dmitry Demidov.

It is important to rely on forms of self-organization of people, such as neighborhood councils, house, and street committees, in which citizens unite to implement initiatives, including for establishing order in the territories where they live. People are motivated by various competitions for the best house, yard, settlement, and landscaping.

The head of the main department of housing and communal services of the regional executive committee, Yuri Dyadyolo, spoke about the work done recently. In total, there are more than 6.6 thousand adjacent territories of apartment buildings in the Vitebsk region. Their inspection has been carried out, and those in need of repair have been identified; there are 285 of them. Based on the results of the half-year, 68 yards have been improved, including the replacement of asphalt pavement, installation of children's playgrounds and sports grounds, canopies for garbage containers, and planting of trees and flowers.

– To attract the population to landscaping work, clean-up days, months, and other events are held. Students, work collectives, deputies, representatives of public and youth organizations, and trade union activists are involved in them, – explained Yuri Dyadyolo.

The head of the agency noted the work in this direction in the Gluboksky, Dokshitsky, Lioznensky, Miorsky, Tolochinsky, and Shumilinsky districts.

Representatives of local authorities and deputies shared their work experience and made their proposals.

Dmitry Demidov pointed out that the maintenance of adjacent territories is not given due attention in all administrative-territorial units. This was indicated at the presidium meeting.
