In Vitebsk, foresters of the region were honored
Over 6.5 thousand people work in the forestry enterprises of the northern region. The best among them were invited to a ceremony in Vitebsk to thank them for their hard work and present them with well-deserved awards. Addressing the "holders of one of the most noble and romantic professions," the First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Sergey Levkovich, emphasized that forestry workers, despite difficulties and sanctions, are confidently moving forward, successfully coping with the tasks assigned to them. He expressed special gratitude for supporting the agro-industrial complex during the harvest campaign and for the foresters' contribution to the region's tourism appeal and the preservation of its natural beauty.
– It is thanks to your conscientious work and contribution to the preservation of our unique nature that the Vitebsk region remains one of the most beautiful in the country! Thank you very much for your dedication! – Sergey Levkovich addressed the attendees. He also congratulated the workers of the forestry sector on National Unity Day. – I wish you unity in our country, in your families, and in your teams. Support each other and remain united – this is very important for our country to continue developing in the future.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Dmitry Demidov, also congratulated those present on both holidays, separately noting the work of veterans of the forestry sector. He emphasized that it was they who laid the solid foundation thanks to which we now live in a beautiful country and one of the most forested regions.
– You are doing very important work, important not only for the present but also for our future! Forest restoration is your real contribution to a bright, environmentally friendly future for our people for generations to come, – said Dmitry Demidov. – Only true romantics, with an open soul, love for nature and their native land, can work in the forestry industry. And in this, perhaps, there is a deep manifestation of patriotism.
Deputy Minister of Forestry Igor Malashevich noted that for the foresters of Vitebsk region, national unity is not an empty phrase. When disaster struck in the Gomel and Mogilev regions, the entire industry united to help! He also paid special attention to the achievements of the foresters of the northern region.
– The Vitebsk region is coping with all the set tasks. And in general, there is a systematic development of the region. For example, despite the abnormal heat, the number and area of fires here are tens of times smaller than in other regions. I also want to thank you for the contribution that the northern region makes annually to fulfilling the head of state's directive on building 100 kilometers of forestry roads – 40% of forest roads are built in the Vitebsk region. This, of course, also helps the development of forestry enterprises, increasing revenue and profitability, but nevertheless, it is a rather difficult task. Thank you for fulfilling it annually, – said the deputy minister.
Igor Malashevich also noted an increase in the number of animals, including bears, emphasizing that the Vitebsk region is "out of competition" in this indicator.
Congratulating colleagues on the holidays, General Director of Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association Yuri Lipsky emphasized the significance of the foresters' work in preserving the national heritage, as it is to the forest that the workers dedicate their lives, preserving and multiplying its wealth, protecting and glorifying the beauty of nature.
– The Day of National Unity reminds us of the importance of traditions, respect for history, and the continuity of generations. This is precisely what our work is focused on. After all, it will be only in 80-100 years that our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be able to use the wood from the seedling planted by foresters of our time, – said Yuri Lipsky. – The motto of foresters – "We serve the forest so that the forest serves people" – clearly defines our purpose. May love for the Belarusian forest inspire you to new achievements, and may our country continue to proudly bear the title of one of the most forested in the world.
On this day, 85 foresters of the Vitebsk region received well-deserved awards. Heads of services with which forestry closely cooperates – trade unions, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Belarusian Railways, and others – also came to congratulate them on the holiday.
