Pig breeding farms are planned to be created in the Vitebsk region, as reported at the meeting of the Committee for Agriculture and Food by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev
The head of the region noted that the situation in the region's pig farming industry is far from ideal. There are no modern complexes operating with the latest technologies in the region, and it is impossible to achieve high results on outdated farms. In order to move the situation towards development, the region will follow the path of creating pig breeding farms – farms where piglets will be obtained and raised for some time, and then the young stock will be transferred to fattening pig farms. By separating the livestock onto different sites, the region expects to achieve more efficient operation.
"We need to create four breeding farms. And they will solve most of the problems of the pig farming industry in the entire region," the governor emphasized. Speaking about animal husbandry in general, Nikolai Sherstnev noted that the region is focused on large-scale production. It is necessary to abandon inefficient small dairy farms. "We are building large dairy complexes at dairy plants, at large farms, at integration structures. In addition, we are erecting modern farms with the involvement of investments, including Chinese ones," the governor said.
